About

Primarily used as an aroma hop, UK Cascade has intense but rounded citrus, lychee and floral characteristics and delivers a smooth integrated bitterness. It delivers the same aroma notes as US Cascade but is slightly less intense. Cascade has a unique floral/spicy aroma both in the cone form and in the beer, mainly due to abnormal levels of some of the essential oils. It is very popular with some brewers due to the unique character imparted to the finished beer, others object to it because of its 'perfume like' hoppy flavour.

Origin

Developed in Oregon, USA with parentage derived from Fuggle and Serebrianker Cascade was released in 1971 and introduced into British production in 2002.
