About

Traditional Norwegian farmhouse yeast (Kveik) from Grodås. The Hornindal/Grodås area is renowned for producing some of the most flavorful and fruit-forward Kveik strains. Like other Kveik, it tolerates high fermentation temperatures and completes fermentation quickly while producing distinctive farmhouse character.

Provenance

"Arvid Raftevold has used this kveik since roughly 1990. Around that time it was mixed with a kveik from a neighbouring farm. Before Arvid his father, Hans Raftevold, used the yeast on the same farm, but Arvid doesn't know where his father got it from. He thinks the kveik has been on the farm for several generations."
