Helga is an aroma hop that is typically used in only late boil additions, including dry hopping. Specific aroma descriptors include pleasant, noble characteristics. Its brewing characteristics resemble that of Hallertau Mittelfrüher, however it demonstrates a forgiving and refined character in a variety of beer styles and hop applications.

Origin

Helga was bred by Hop Products Australia from Hallertau Mittelfrüh and was formerly known as "Southern Hallertau". It was released to the public in 1986. 2017 was the last harvest of Helga by HPA, as it was retired.
