About
First Choice is a New Zealand variety that was grown commercially for 20 years between the 1960s and the 1980s. It is no longer in commercial production, likely a result of its low alpha content. It was selected by Dr R.H.J. Roborgh at the Riwaka Research Station, much like its parent, California Cluster. It possesses high yield and growth potential but little is known about its flavor and aroma profile.
